2024 Next Gen Division Rules

The Next Gen division is for kids and new drivers. This division is meant to gain driving experience on the track. All legal gardens of Next Gen racers need to sign a waiver in order for child to race.

ANY Next Gen driver who wins (2) races in a row will start last in the next scheduled event.

A Next Gen driver MAY be allowed to stay in the division IF track officials and the drivers’ legal guardian feel it is necessary. It is at track's discretion to move people up or hold them back in class.

1.) 1980 or later 4 CYL front wheel drive and rear wheel drive cars allowed. Rear wheel Drive cars may require throttle stop at tracks discretion. If parents refuse throttle stop then said driver will be told to move up in divisions. If a car races rear wheel drive in the Next Gen class they cannot run rear wheel drive in any other division.

2.) Completely stock – as if it was sold directly from the factory. Stock cams. Stock heads. No shaving! No homemade or aftermarket parts. Must have a factory roof. Must have a stock appearing nose.

*May use aluminum on bodies, but it must look stock in appearance.

3.) May run springs/spring rubbers.

4.) Stock fuel injection/carburetor for the make and model of the car.

5.) No forced air induction systems.

6.) Can run cone air filters.

7.) RVD / Stock IV allowed.

7.) All belts and all pumps must remain in place and operational. AC and power steering pump may be removed at the driver’s discretion.

8.) Battery must be in either stock location or in a metal box if moved to an approved location within the vehicle.

9.) Fuel-cell recommended gas only.

10.) Any steel or factory aluminum wheels up to 8”. Large wheels are okay. Any 60 or 70 series street DOT tire 13”, 14”, 15”, or 16” untouched.

NO racing tires of any type (American Racers, Hoosiers, etc.) Racing wheels okay.

NO soaking, grooving, or siping. Each tire must punch no less than 60 at all times.

All wheels and tires must be the same size (meaning if you’re running one 13”, all four wheels MUST be 13”.

You can mix and match the width and height of tires, but rim diameter must be the same.

11.) Minimum weight is 2300 lbs. More weight may be added to any dominant car at the track’s discretion at any time.

All lead must be securely fastened to the race car in order to promote safety. Lead must be painted white, silver, or another highly visible color. Include the car number on lead as well. Unsecured lead is subject to track inspection, regulation, possible disqualification if deemed unsafe.

12.) Race receivers are mandatory.

13.) Computers must be stock – no tuned computers allowed.

14.) No high performance or sport-type engines. 2.4 maximum allowed.

15.) No mirrors allowed

16.) Full pipe bumpers allowed for front and rear. Bumper covers optional. A single “rub rail” is allowed to be installed on both sides of the car (one “rub rail” per side). Ends must be capped and turned to avoid hooking onto another vehicle.

17.) Stock flywheels. No shaving. Locked transmissions are allowed.

18.) E-brakes must be removed or non-functional.

19.) Cars need to stay neat in appearance. Torn or damaged sheet metal must be replaced by the next race. Bodies and bumpers need to remain securely fastened at all times. For safety reasons it will be up to track discretion to remove any damaged parts during a race.

20.) Mufflers are mandatory

21.) All four brakes must work.

22.) Good quality full face racing helmets or DOT approved helmets are required.

23.) Any time a car is on the track all safety gear is required.

24.) Fire extinguisher is required in the car.

Safety chains must remain securely fastened on the front and rear of the car at all times or you will be immediately disqualified.

Competitors must present cars for inspection prior to participating in any racing event. A pre-race inspection will be made ONLY to ensure safety protocols have been adhered to. Questions of legality can and will be answered during the pre-race inspection if asked by an entrant. No guarantee of legality shall be expressed or implied during pre-race inspection. Legality will be determined in post-race inspection. Fairgrounds Raceway has final ruling on all questions of legality.

Fairgrounds Raceway officials have every right to change the rules if deemed necessary at any point during the season. Officials may be open to changing rules if it is best for the majority of the class.
