FRONT WHEEL DRIVE RULES

We generally follow SCDRA rules with few exceptions and additions, which are listed below. All cars must weigh 2200 pounds minimum with car and driver after the race.

** FWD // Basics **

1.) Must be a stock 4-cylinder car. No turbo or rotary engines allowed. K Series will be allowed with acception that the engines are unopened (Meaning they stay completely stock).

2.) Stock type fuel injection or stock manufactured throttle body only. (Motorcraft, etc.)

3.) One 0.800” maximum throttle body spacer may be used. No Holley, Weber, or other racing carburetors allowed. Throttle body must be stock for the engine.

4.) Motor must be stock appearing and in stock location. Motor must match the car. (Ex: Honda cars must have Honda engines)

5.) Any air or oil filters. (K&N, etc.)

6.) Aftermarket intakes allowed. No cold air intakes for fuel injections. Must have a stock type breather system.

7.) A flexible rubber or plastic hose may be used in place of the stock air box tube. A cone-type filter is allowed and may be connected directly to the throttle body or the allowed tubes.

8.) Aftermarket radiators okay. Radiators can be braced for support.

9.) Aftermarket racing headers are allowed.

10.) Computers may be chipped and/or tuned. A standalone ECU and aftermarket harness are allowed.

11.) Ignition coil must remain OEM.

12.) Mufflers are mandatory.

** FWD // Body, Wheel, Tire **

1.) Mirrors are not allowed.

2.) Any front wheel drive (FWD) car. No all wheel drive cars or all wheel steer cars.

3.) Must have stock appearing front and rear suspension.

4.) Slotting of factory mounting holes allowed. No racing springs (lowering) or shocks allowed. Springs may be heated, clamped, or use spring rubbers. Springs must be within 2’ of factory installed height. Rear control arms should be stock but may be braced, strengthened, or repaired. No aftermarket control arms. All suspension must stay in stock locations.

5.) Stock type aftermarket suspension bushings are allowed.

6.) Must have a quality welded minimum 4-point roll cage inside the car with a minimum of 0.95” thickness tubing.

7.) Minimum 3 driver door bars, 2 side door bars. 6 or more point cages are permitted. No push bars past the firewall.

8.) Roll cage may extend forward behind bumpers. Bumpers must not have any exposed sharp corners or edges.

9.) Aftermarket racing wheels allowed. 8” maximum. Bead locks allowed.

10.) Street legal DOT tires required. No drag radials, mud grip lug tires, racing tires or racing recapped tires allowed. Directional tires are allowed. Tires can be mixed and matched for stagger. Aftermarket nose pieces allowed. 6” metal support to extend out behind the nose-piece or to hold the grill in place is allowed.

11.) No push bars to extend outside of bumpers or beyond the nose piece. Some sheet metal will be allowed for repairs. Race cars should remain as close to stock appearance as possible.

12.) Adding sheet metal to the body may result in a weight penalty being assessed. Gutting of the body is allowed.

** FWD // Safety **

1.) Window nets are mandatory. Sprint-style window nets will not be permitted. Good quality full face racing helmets or DOT approved helmets are required.

2.) Minimum single-layer fire suit required. (SA 3.2A specification recommended)

3.) Fire proof gloves are strongly recommended. (SFI 3.3 specification recommended)

4.) A 4 or 5 point harness, properly mounted per manufacturers’ specifications, is required.

5.) Belts must have been manufactured in the last 5 years. Any worn, abraded or torn belts must be replaced.

6.) A 5 lb. (or greater) fire extinguisher should be securely mounted within the drivers’ reach.

7.) Only racing-type seats, properly mounted per manufacturers’ specifications, are allowed.

8.) A head-and-neck restraint system is mandatory (SFI 16.1 compliant recommended).

9.) A firewall must be in place between the driver compartment and fuel cells, fuel lines, or tanks.

10.) Safety chains must remain securely fastened on the front and rear of the racecar at all times.

11.) Any time a car is on the track all safety gear is required.

12.) Race receivers are mandatory.

13.) No radios allowed.

Safety chains must remain securely fastened on the front and rear of the car at all times or you will be immediately disqualified.

Competitors must present cars for inspection prior to participating in any racing event. A pre-race inspection will be made ONLY to ensure safety protocols have been adhered to. Questions of legality can and will be answered during the pre-race inspection if asked by an entrant. No guarantee of legality shall be expressed or implied during pre-race inspection. Legality will be determined in post-race inspection. Fairgrounds Raceway has final ruling on all questions of legality.

Fairgrounds Raceway officials have every right to change the rules if deemed necessary at any point during the season. Officials may be open to changing rules if it is best for the majority of the class.
